Belfast City Airport starts the festive season with annual Christmas tree light switch on

Belfast City Airport has kicked off the festive season with its much-loved annual Christmas tree light switch on, joined by pupils from its seven of its adopted schools.


Cruiz Young, Mitchell House School, Zoe Brown, Loughview Integrated PS, Ewan Dodds, Victoria Park PS, Daisy Leonard, St. Josephs PS, Charlene McMurtry, Seaview PS, Jordan Morrison, St. Malachys PS, and Faith Rose Toner, St. Kevins PS,  helped special guests, Santa and Mrs Claus, mark the start of the airport’s busiest time of the year, with up to 10,000 passengers expected to travel each day in December.


Michelle Hatfield, Chief People and Marketing Officer at Belfast City Airport, said:


“Our annual Christmas Tree light switch on is one of the highlights of the year at Belfast City Airport, and it’s always wonderful to see our terminal filled with laughter, music, and festive spirit.


“We’re particularly delighted to welcome pupils from our adopted schools to help us start the season, made even more special with the addition of a pupil from one of our two newest adopted schools, Lough View Integrated Primary School.


“As an airport at the heart of the city, we take great pride in creating memorable experiences for passengers, staff, and our local community.


“With many more festive activities lined up for the lead up to Christmas, we’re looking forward to celebrating the most wonderful time of the year with everyone who passes through Belfast City Airport.”


The Christmas tree switch on officially signals the start of the airport’s festive calendar, which will include a series of seasonal surprises for travellers in the weeks ahead.
