Belfast City Airport has announced White Ribbon NI as its new Charity Partner, pledging its support for the global movement working to end violence against women and girls.

Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, White Ribbon NI aims to create lasting cultural change, leading to a society free from violence and fear.

As part of the partnership, Belfast City Airport team members will take part in and organise a range of fundraising activities and host educational sessions for staff, raising awareness of White Ribbon NI and the work needed to create a culture of respect and equality where all can thrive.

Lindsay Millar, Belfast City Airport Community Fund Ambassador, said:

“As an airport at the heart of Belfast and at the heart of the community, we are proud to be a good neighbour through the support of initiatives that have a tangible impact on the place we call home.

“Partnering with White Ribbon NI reflects our commitment to using our platform to help drive positive change, and, over the next two years, we will work together to send out the message that violence against women in all its forms is unacceptable.

“We are proud of the way our staff consistently come together to champion causes that matter, and we are excited about what this partnership can achieve.”

Belfast City Airport’s Charity Partner is part of its wider local community engagement, which also includes the Belfast City Airport Community Fund. To date, the Fund has donated over £700,000 to 237 projects across Greater Belfast and Ards and North Down.

Tahnee McCorry, CEO and Founder of White Ribbon NI, added:

“Our new partnership with Belfast City Airport will play an important role in helping us expand our reach and continue our vital work engaging men and boys in the conversation-equipping them to be the generation who help to end violence against women and girls.

“Support from community-focused organisations such as Belfast City Airport enables us to deliver impactful programmes that help everyone, including young people, become confident to speak up about the attitudes and beliefs in our society which allow violence against women and girls to continue, helping to create a safer future for all.”

Belfast City Airport recently concluded its charity partnership with Air Ambulance NI, which saw it raise over £140,000 for Northern Ireland’s only Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.
