Ian Sheppard, Chairman of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Northern Ireland, said:

“The collapse of the talks to restore the Northern Ireland Executive, which as recently as the start of this week had appeared close to a successful conclusion, has left the local business community feeling both exasperated and frustrated.

“However, the message we are hearing from our members is that, wherever the decisions that affect us locally are made, they would now like to see Northern Ireland enter into a sustained period of political stability while work continues in the background to rebuild the local institutions.

“As a national organisation, with representation across all parts of the UK, the IoD will continue to work with local companies as they seek to grow in the current challenging political and economic climate.”
