Statement from Kirsty McManus, Divisional Director of the Institute of Directors in Northern Ireland, regarding the Judicial Review of Energy from Waste plant at Mallusk
“Having talked with many of the business leaders we represent today, they are exasperated at the ongoing political vacuum and the adverse effect it is having on business here in Northern Ireland.
“Today’s legal ruling effectively pulls the rug from under the feet of the Permanent Secretaries who were forced into making decisions our absent politicians should have overseen.
“The IoD membership is concerned that the continuing lack of leadership from our elected representatives will have a lasting and damaging effect on our economy and wider society.
“Our politicians need to get back around the table, then back to work.”
