Gideon Kipsang and Emma Mitchell took the top honours at the Northern Ireland and Ulster Championship 10K in Bangor in association with George Best Belfast City Airport.

Gideon Kipsang finished with an impressive time of 00:30:15. Declan Reid was second across the line with a time of 00:30:58 closely followed by Conan McCaughey with a time of 00:30:58.

In the women’s race, Emma Mitchell was first across the line in a time of 00.34.44.

Gladys Ganiel, who a recorded a time of 00.36.33, was second with Lauren Wilson in third, completing the race in 00.37.11.

Tony Wall, Chairman of North Down Athletic Club which organised the race, commented:

“The atmosphere in Bangor today has been incredible, with more than 1,000 runners from across the country and beyond coming out to compete against each other and break personal bests.

“We encouraged all abilities to take part and the range of people who came out today was fantastic to see. Each participant should be proud of themselves.

“We are extremely grateful to Belfast City Airport for its ongoing support, helping to grow the race year on year.”
